AFTER WORLD ANIMAL DAY
You did it! Many individuals and organisations take part in World Animal Day year after year, and every bit of commitment is appreciated. If your first ever event doesn’t go exactly as planned don’t be discouraged. The joy of World Animal Day is that it comes around every year. By throwing your first event, you will have gained experience, resources and contacts for future events.
ONCE YOUR EVENT IS OVER
Following your event, make sure to post plenty of photos on social media and tag the official World Animal Day HQ account so that we can share as many celebrations as possible. If you were fundraising, work out your profits and hand them over to the charity as soon as possible, a photo with the cheque is a great local press opportunity, and don’t forget to let attendees know how much you raised too.
It is always good to take an honest look back at how your event went, ask your team for input and write down a couple of notes about what worked and what could be improved for next time.
SAYING THANK YOU
The most important part of any event is thanking everyone involved. Make sure to acknowledge everyone who played a part no matter big or small. Venue staff, speaker, sponsors and anyone who donated any time, service or equipment, they will appreciate knowing how much their support meant and are more likely to help with future events.
Don’t forget to thank yourself – then start thinking about next year!
MAKE EVERYDAY WORLD ANIMAL DAY
October 4 draws so much global attention to animal welfare, but animals need support year-round. Whilst it is impossible to help every animal, it is possible to help every day.
Here are a few easy ways to keep momentum going:
- Providing surrounding wildlife in your area with water and sustenance
- Volunteer with local animal welfare groups
- Donate food, blankets and toys to local rescue centres
- Set up a Facebook fundraiser or sponsor an animal with a small monthly donation
- Keep up to date with global campaigns and sign and share any petitions you see online.
