Animalia PUCE 2026 Vet School Photo Contest

In commemoration of World Animal Day, the Veterinary Medicine Program at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador invites the university community to participate in the Photography Contest “Animalia PUCE 2026 Vet School Photo Contest,” an initiative aimed at promoting, through photography, reflection on animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, biodiversity conservation, and the relationship between animals, people, and the environment.

The contest seeks to recognize animals from different contexts and foster a respectful perspective towards the species with which we share our environment. The selected photographs will be part of the ANIMALIA PUCE 2026 Gallery, which will be exhibited on the Nayón campus during the week commemorating World Animal Day.

All photographs must relate to the concept “Seeing the World Through Their Eyes.” The image should invite reflection on our relationship with animals and our responsibility towards their well-being, care, and conservation.
Participants will be able to compete in 4 categories:
Category 1. Wildlife and Biodiversity Photographs of wild animals in their natural habitat. The images must have been obtained respecting the distance and natural behavior of the animal, without manipulation, feeding, chasing, capturing, or deliberately altering their environment.

Category 2. Companion Animals Photographs of companion animals that represent aspects related to animal welfare, behavior, responsible ownership, care, and respect.

Category 3. Production and working animals
Photographs of animals linked to production systems or work activities that allow reflection on animal welfare, responsible handling, behavior, housing conditions, and the importance of animals within communities.

A first place will be awarded in each category, and additionally, the "People's Choice – ANIMALIA PUCE 2026" award will be given.
