PROMOTING YOUR EVENT
The most impactful part of the event isn’t what you do, it’s how many people show up. Don’t let any hard work go to waste, it’s essential to “sell” your event to as many people as possible before they already make their plans.
Advertise regularly and make sure to ramp it up a week beforehand. You could get in contact with local newspapers, clubs, radio stations or local groups. Perhaps you could invite a local personality to speak at the event.
MORE WAYS TO SPREAD THE WORD
- Contact online local community groups
- Display event flyers at vets, pet shops, kennels, recue centres and cafes
- Ask local students to spread the word among activist groups
- Create a social media event such as a livestream that members of the public can join
- Ask local animal welfare groups to spread the word and post on social media
ADD YOUR EVENT TO THE WEBSITE
When details are finalised, don’t forget to submit your event to the World Animal Day website. It will tie your activity directly to the global movement, will appear on our website and may inspire others to add similar events. If you add your event in the run up to October 4, you’ll also receive a free World Animal Day flag and dog bandana to help you promote it, just make sure you submit the event in plenty of time so that there is enough time for your resources to reach you.
To add your event, you just need the basics details:
- Event name
- A description
- The date of your event
- A start and end time
- Country and venue
- Your contact details
Once all of these logistics are sorted, head here to submit your event. When everything is planned and promoted, all that’s left is the celebration itself!
