GETTING STARTED
Every year on October 4, World Animal Day reaches over 50 million people online, and we’re inviting you to be one of them. Advocates around the globe unite to celebrate, and speak up for, the incredible animals that we share our planet with. And you don’t have to wait until October 4, it’s never too early to start raising awareness for the only day the recognises all animals.

#WORLDANIMALDAY ISN’T JUST A HASHTAG
World Animal Day is a real opportunity to make a difference, so why not go one step further than social media and organise an event, either in person or virtual. Look at the events already added to the website, or get inspired by our ambassadors, who host events as representatives in their own communities.
If you add your first event to the site for October 4, we’ll send you a free World Animal Day logo flag and dog bandana to help you promote it, just make sure to add it early so we have time to get to you. And don’t forget to tag us in your World Animal Day photos; we love to share them.
YEARLY THEME
Each year, our theme is picked by a World Animal Day supporter. Curious to see the theme for this year? You’ll find it on our homepage, under “What’s happening Around the World”. Why not enter our annual competition to suggest next year’s theme to win a logo pin, details are shared on our social media and email updates, so sign up to stay in the loop.
DID YOU KNOW
World Animal Day has over 100 ambassadors in over 70 countries, all dedicated to making the world a better place for animals. Show your support by following them on their social media, which you can find on our ambassador page.
A WORD OF WARNING
Social Media can be a powerful tool for raising awareness and speaking up for the voiceless. But some users create and promote content that cruelly exploits animals, including fake “rescues “and unethical tourism interactions. Watch out for these posts, and please don’t engage with them. The Social Media Animal Cruelty Coalition shares “Five Steps to Stop Online Cruelty” on their website, alongside a reporting form if you want to flag your concerns.
